UK's First 'Teacherless' AI Classroom Set To Open In London

Image Reference: Visit website

Headlines:

The UK's first ⁘teacherless⁘ GCSE class, using artificial intelligence instead of human teachers, is about to start lessons.

David Game College, a private school in London, opens its new teacherless course for 20 GCSE students in September.

The students will learn using a mixture of artificial intelligence platforms on their computers and virtual reality headsets.

The platforms learn what the student excels in and what they need more help with, and then adapt their lesson plans for the term.

Strong topics are moved to the end of term so they can be revised, while weak topics will be tackled more immediately, and each student's lesson plan is bespoke to them.

⁘There are many excellent teachers out there but we're all fallible,⁘ said John Dalton, the school's co-principal.

⁘I think it's very difficult to achieve [AI's] level of precision and accuracy, and also that continuous evaluation.

⁘A teacher doesn't really know your flaws because he has so many students,⁘ said Joseph, a GCSE student at David Game College who has been testing the system.

John Sugden ( Oliver Farnworth ) has made plenty of waves since his arrival in Emmerdale, but it looks like his time in the village could be over already.

After Mack was discharged, tempers flared between the men in the village, before Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) admitted she might have inadvertently caused the incident after leaving a gate open.

Mack refused to apologise to John, however, maintaining his stance that John was 'a snake' who was not to be trusted.

Back up at Butlers, Moira then reluctantly let John go from his job, admitting it would be impossible for him and Mack to work together moving forward.

Deciding it was time to move on from Emmerdale now that his van was fixed, he informed newfound half-sister Victoria Sudgen (Isabel Hodgins) he'd be leaving imminently.

Victoria was devastated as she realised there was no way of changing John's mind, while his lover Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) also looked dejected to hear the news.

However, Aaron might yet give him reason to stay, as the end of the episode saw the pair hook up once again back at Mill Cottage.

Jacob Roberts has revealed he hit a 'low point' after quitting Hollyoaks , before joining the cast of Coronation Street .

The actor, 34, claims he had a 'total reality check' when he was forced to go back to a manual labour job, three weeks before landing his stint on the cobbles.

The soap star was forced to go back fitting aerials on rooftops while he struggled to find an acting job after leaving Hollyoaks a year prior.

He told The Mirror : 'It was a low moment. Eight months previously I was on TV and now I was in the freezing cold rain on top of a roof, fiddling with a TV aerial.

'It was winter and I was outside up a ladder in the cold, instead of inside in the warm doing lines - it was a total reality check and hard to take. I was dreading anyone recognising me and saying "Weren't you on Hollyoaks?".

Despite making the decision to quit the Channel 4 soap, Jacob's passion was always acting and hoped he would land a job on another soap.

Brexit Hiked My Business Costs - Starmer's Germany Plan Must Work

Art gallery owner Summer Obaid said that pre-Brexit, Germany was her business's third biggest customer. Since the UK left the EU on 31 January, 2020, she says interest from the country has almost dropped off entirely.

Small businesses up and down the country said Britain exiting the EU left them struggling with issues including increased labour shortages and customs delays.

Now, in an attempt to restore "broken relationships" with our European neighbours, Keir Starmer flew to Berlin to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday.

The two leaders spoke about a new treaty with the aim of boosting business and to "turn a corner" on Brexit .

Speaking about the talks, 37-year-old Summer said she was "thrilled," and hopes any new partnership may give her small business the chance to thrive like it did before 2020.

She said: "We are a unique art gallery based in west London and we created all of our own art, prints and frames.

"Before Brexit, Germany was our third-biggest customer, but things have really slowed down since we left the EU. The new rules and regulations that the decision brought have been a complete headache for us to be honest and they have caused us lots of issues.

"We have seen huge potential in Germany. They love buying original art and it's a place where we'd really like to grow our business – particularly in Berlin because there's a huge interest there.

ITV Coronation Street's Sarah 'Set For New Romance' With 'Another Bad Boy*

Image Reference: See here

Coronation Street fans are convinced they have 'worked out' who Sarah Platt's new love interest will be on the cobbles

In recent episodes, viewers have watched as Sarah grappled with a rather tumultuous year, particularly in the romance department. Soap addicts will remember her scandalous fling with the notorious Damon Hay, played by Ciaran Griffiths, which saw her betray her then-husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

The ill-fated affair was kept under wraps for a time, but it wasn't long before Adam uncovered their secret liaison, reports the Express . Following the crumbling of her marriage, Sarah has stayed solo yet soap watchers have a hunch that another passionate plotline isn't far off.

Over on social media, Corrie fans are speculating Sarah might fall for ⁘another bad boy⁘ after spotting a significant hint. Long-time viewers will note that not long ago, Sarah attempted to frame Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), a known predator, by planting evidence in his van connecting him to Lauren Bolton's (Cait Fitton) disappearance.

Caught red-handed by newcomer Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts), a police officer, Sarah owned up to her scheme. Instead of reprimanding her, he showed leniency, advising her to leave matters to the police.

Later, much to Sarah's shock, she discovered that Nathan had been nicked on suspicion of offing Lauren all due to the evidence Kit unearthed in his van.

When Sarah confronted Kit about the evidence, he reassured her he'd keep her safe, despite being clued up on her snooping.

England Vs USWNT Set For 'Fiery Game' At Wembley: How To Watch Live, Stream Link, Previe...

Image Reference: Found here

The growing rivalry between the United States women's national team and England takes its next step in November when the gold-medal winners from the 2024 Paris Olympics visit the reigning EURO winners at Wembley Stadium.

The anticipation was already palpable in August when ProSoccerTalk caught up with several members of the England team prior to a preseason friendly between Arsenal and Chelsea in the United States.

There are subplots beyond the match-up of FIFA's current No. 1 and No. 2 teams, with the U.S. reclaiming the top spot after their Olympic triumph.

And the Lionesses know well the USWNT's new leader — England native and longtime Chelsea mastermind Emma Hayes.

This is the first match-up between the USWNT and England since 2022 — a 2-1 England win at Wembley — and the 20th all-time meeting.

The U.S. won the previous meeting at the 2020 SheBelieves Cup, and more notably the 2019 World Cup semifinal in France.

"The Wembley game is gonna be good," said Chelsea defender Lucy Bronze, who went 90 minutes in the England win at Wembley Stadium in 2022. "There's the attention of the boss ladies on the side — Emma Hayes and Sarina [Wiegman] are the two big names in terms of women's coaches. There are not two you'd put in the same conversation in terms of women. And then you've got the European champions and the Olympic gold medalists going head to head where both teams have a huge amount of respect.

"The competitive nature and the athleticism have always been the thing," she said. "Fortunately for the U.S., the women's game has been so loud [in the States] for so long. They've had the resources maybe when other people didn't so they've always stood out, but the competitive edge and the mindset is a thing that America has in general. That kind of dreamer-into-winning mindset is an interesting one.

If there's one thing British Vogue's Fashion Features Director Julia Hobbs can't survive the summer without, it's her pair of vintage Chanel sunglasses…

I'm part way through The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing—and plan to finish it poolside in Tuscany, where I'll be wearing my Frankies Bikinis swim skirt with a matching two-piece and little else.

I love to dab Rhode's pocket blush (in "piggy" shade) onto my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose while my sun cream (Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun) is still sinking in. The effect: a quenched, just-stepped-off-the-dance-floor glow.

I'm dreaming of watching the sunset from the terrace at Le Sirenuse after a lazy day. I'll need: a deck of playing cards, a best friend (or two), and a splash of Ruinart over lots of ice.

I currently live in Phoebe Philo's round wedge 75 heels, but have my eye on the New Balance x Miu Miu 530 SL leather sneakers for sprinting through passport control…

I couldn't do Brat summer without my Apple wired headphones and an enormous pair of vintage Chanel sunglasses to hide the dark circles during early morning call times.

'Can't Stand Her' Rage EastEnders Viewers As They Slam 'Despicable*

The incident occurred at Peggy's as customers broke through the queue, leading to a dangerously overcrowded club.

Penny, played by Kitty Castledine, struggled to sell tickets for her club night and urged her staff to do whatever it took to ensure a ⁘sell-out⁘ night.

Lauren changed the remaining tickets from 18 to 180, and Penny offered discounted tickets and free drinks.

These incentives increased the demand for tickets, but it soon became clear that things had gotten out of hand.

As the club became more and more packed, Zack (James Farrar) tried to send a message to his security on the door to tell them not to let anyone else in.

Just as the club reached its maximum capacity, a fight in the queue lead to punters pushing past the security and storming the club.

As more and more people spilled into the venue, a crush formed inside, leaving residents in dangerous peril.

Little do they know but behind that exit, Cindy and Junior were getting down to business as they continue their steamy affair.

Over the past few weeks, Cindy's own crush on the square's Romeo had been in danger of fizzling out.

Drivers Hit By 7-day Warning As New £4 Charge To Hit London | Express.Co.Uk

Image More details: See here

There is only one week to go until Transport for London's (TfL) proposed tax on two tunnels in the capital is approved.

If the tax goes ahead, drivers will need to pay up to £4 to use the Blackwall tunnel or the upcoming Silvertown tunnel, which is due to open during 2024.

Christina Calderato, Director of Strategy at TfL , highlighted that the charge will help to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

She explained: "The Silvertown Tunnel is now less than a year away from opening and we are sharing our user charging scheme, so Londoners can have their say on the proposed charge levels and wide range of discounts and exemptions.

"Without introducing tunnel user charges for the Silvertown and Blackwall tunnels, there would likely be high levels of traffic and congestion, which would lead to detrimental air quality impacts, as well as longer journey times."

Due to be rolled out in early 2025, the introduction of the charge will be the first time that users of the Blackwall Tunnel will need to pay since it opened in 1897.

However, the charge has caused controversy from motorists in the capital, with some likening the move to the roll out of the ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) across the region.

Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has officially tied the knot with Tom Thornton-Brookes, sorting the 'legal bit' just one month after the pair's secret wedding .

The actress, who plays the iconic Cindy Cunningham , confirmed last month that she'd married fiancé Tom during a beautiful ceremony on a beach in the Maldives.

'When we booked this holiday to the Maldives, Tom said "Do you want to get married?" and I just replied, "Yeah."' she told OK! Magazine at the time.

Tom then explained: 'I was having a look online at where we were staying and I saw they did weddings.'

Flash-forward a month and Steph and Tom are getting married once again, with the Hollyoaks star updating her followers on Sunday to confirm that it was time to get 'the legal bit' sorted.

Gabriel Clark, who played the second iteration of Cindy's stepson Ollie Morgan, was present for the ceremony and shared snaps of the special day, which saw Ross Adams – who played Scott Drinkwell – speak.

Stephanie completed filming on Hollyoaks earlier this year after almost three decades, with the star confirming that her character – one of TV's most recognisable soap icons – was one of those axed ahead of the episode reduction coming into effect next month.

Hollyoaks will reduce from five to three episodes a week, with a number of major characters set to exit as a result. In addition to Cindy, fans will also have to say goodbye to the popular Ethan Williams ( Matthew James Bailey ) and Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan).

A Report Is Made To Destroy An Emmerdale Business In New Spoiler Video | Soaps

Recently in Emmerdale, Jimmy King ( Nick Miles ) was taken aback when an inspector arrived at his haulage business ready for some impromptu tests.

The man wanted to check the tachographs, a device that's fitted onto lorries to record speed, distance, driving time, and to ensure the driver takes the right amount of rest.

Somewhat taken aback, Jimmy was fearful when the inspector delivered a fine and revealed he has 28 days to pay it.

Back at home, Jimmy updated Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and admitted he hadn't been entirely honest with recording his own drives, because he's been doing a few more on the sly to earn extra cash and also distract himself from Angel's (Rebecca Bakes) absence.

Meanwhile, in the village, the inspector pulled up alongside Caleb (William Ash). He was pleased with the plan and prepared to pay the man £500. He then got quite cocky, however, and tried to tell Caleb he deserves £1k instead.

It was confirmed that same week that Caleb is busy developing a new empire right now, and needs some lorries for his new business. Because the haulage firm is co-owned by Kim's (Claire King) partner, sabotaging it seemed like a perfect idea.

The ULEZ Expansion 1 Year On - Some Want To Flee London While Others 'Happy' With It

Image Reference: Visit website

On August 29, 2023, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was expanded across the entirety of Greater London.

Mayor Khan and Transport for London (TfL) created the ULEZ in a bid to ⁘help clear London's air and improve health⁘.

Research showed that London has poor air quality, with TfL sharing that this was ⁘mainly caused by polluting vehicles.⁘

Since the announcement of the ULEZ expansion nearly two years ago, it has continued to receive mixed opinions and created debate within local communities.

But now, nearly a year since the ULEZ was expanded, we've asked our readers what they think of the scheme and whether it's affected their day-to-day lives.

Asking Londoners what their thoughts of the ULEZ are and whether they agreed with the scheme, we received a mixed response, with some claiming it's been a positive change whilst others have been left upset by the expansion.

One local said that the ULEZ had made them ⁘happy⁘, sharing: ⁘I have a compliant car and asthma, so I'm quite happy. I ventured into the West End for the first time in years and the difference in traffic levels was so noticeable.⁘

Another who opposed the scheme said they were looking to move away from London over the ULEZ: ⁘Totally don't agree with it. Haven't been able to use our 7-seater car. Currently purchasing a house up North, to get as far away from London as possible!!!!!⁘

Speculation has been rife among Coronation Street viewers over who is the biological father of Alina Pop's (played by Ruxandra Porojnicu) baby, Dorin, despite confirmation that he was conceived during her affair with Weatherfield regular Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).

During Friday's episode on ITV, fans continued to question whether Tyrone truly is Dorin's dad, despite Alina's claims. However, a fresh theory has emerged on Twitter suggesting that Alina may have had Dorin with another man during her time away from the soap. Even more shockingly, some fans speculate that Dorin's father could be one of Alina's former traffickers.

This led to a third fan chiming in with: ⁘Bet Dorrin isn't Ty's; bet he's one of the traffickers'.⁘ Previously, characters Tyrone Dobbs, Seb Franklin and Adam Barlow were considered potential fathers due to Alina's history with them.

Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina Pop in ITV's popular drama, recently made a dramatic return to the show after a three-year hiatus. Her character, Alina, had previously been involved in an affair with Tyrone Dobbs, leading to a split with his then-girlfriend and now-wife, Fiz Stape.

However, Alina's return was not without its complications. After receiving mysterious phone calls from an unidentified individual, it became apparent that Alina was in deeper trouble than she initially let on.

Shoppers Only Just Realising Why TK Maxx Has A Different Name Outside The United Kingdom...

Shoppers have been left surprised upon discovering the reason behind the different name of retailer TK Maxx in the United Kingdom compared to its international branches.

Originally established by Bernard Cammarata as TJ Maxx in the United States, the brand opened its first UK store in Bristol in 1994, some 18 years after launching its Massachusetts outlet.

The store quickly became a beloved fixture for British consumers, offering designer items at significantly lower prices than its rivals. Its product range is extensive, including clothing, accessories, beauty products, toys, food, and even homeware furniture, reports the Mirror .

However, American customers encounter the brand under its original name, TJ Maxx. The rationale behind the subtle rebranding in the UK has only recently come to light.

On Channel 5's documentary ⁘TK Maxx: How To Bag a Bargain,⁘ former buyer Yasmin Latiff revealed the reasoning behind the change. She stated: ⁘They changed a letter so that consumers would not be confused with TJ Hughes, which was an off-price retailer founded in Liverpool.⁘

Adding to the explanation, consumer journalist Harry Wallop commented: ⁘They just randomly chose the next letter in the alphabet. I think it's as simple as that.⁘

TK Maxx enjoyed rapid success following its introduction to the UK market and even launched its own e-commerce platform in 2009.

TJ Hughes, on the other hand, has been a longstanding favourite in Merseyside since its inception in 1912 and grew to become a nationally known entity. At the height of its popularity, it boasted 57 stores across the UK.

As the sun rises on Park Lane Maria sticks her head out of her tent and squints at the Aston Martin showroom across the road. Around her, others unzip their doors, stretch and slip on flip-flops before heading to a camping stove where a boiling pan of water will be poured into mugs piled high with instant coffee.

Anyone who's played Monopoly will know this campsite sits on just about the most valuable piece of land in London. For those wishing to stay at one of the neighbouring hotels, like The Dorchester or 45 Park Lane, rooms cost a minimum of £1,000 a night.

The camp was well-equipped to handle her arrival. The majority of tents are filled with blankets and mattresses, while elevated from the ground on wooden pallets to keep the cold away.

Fresh water is plentiful thanks to donated tanks from office water coolers, most of which are piled in Marks and Spencer trollies, and large meals are prepared from gifted food at a rectangular table with a London bus plastic tablecloth.

Asked to describe a typical day Maria rubbed her eyes and then replied: "In the morning I wake up and wash my face and hands with the water we receive.

The Express discovered her slumped outside the Marriott around midday. Pressed against the stone facade, she had removed her shoes and had her toes poking out of a blanket. Propped beside her was a plastic cup with silver coins and a sign that read: "Please help homeless, God bless."

Many nearly identical versions can be found across central London in the hands of non-English speaking beggars every day and, following our trip to the camp, we spoke to three other beggars all of whom had extremely similar placards, two in the same handwriting.

'Rail Is Our Lifeline': Businesses Brace For Possible CN/CPKC Shutdown Amid...

Image Reference: Found here

To business executive Daniel Peretz, the possibility of a railway strike or lockout is more than a headline.

⁘The rail service is our lifeline,⁘ he said. ⁘Without the rail service, we don't operate the business, we don't have 13 employees working here, we're unable to service a very important industry.⁘

Peretz is president and CEO of NexGen Polymers, a plastics material transloading facility operating out of a rail-served warehouse and office space just east of downtown London, Ont.

Outside the building's brick walls, there's a series of railway sidings that together hold about 40 railcars. Each graffiti-covered rail car holds plastic pellets delivered to the site by petroleum companies from across North America and overseas.

Twice a week, a Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) crew comes to pull away about 10 empties from NexGen and replace them with loaded railcars.

The plastic pellets — each about the size of an unpopped popcorn kernel — come delivered to Peretz's site in various colours and grades.

The pellets are vacuumed out of the railcars and into storage tanks for testing, mixing and eventual delivery by truck for customers. The manufacturers Peretz sells to turn the pellets into products and packaging that Canadians see on almost every store shelf.

A labour dispute at both Canadian National and CPKC threatens to derail not only Peretz's business, but the scores of manufacturers he supplies in a complex, just-in-time supply chain. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has said the lockout could be devastating for small businesses that depend on rail service.

Shoppers are finally figuring out why the popular retailer known as TK Maxx in the UK carries a different name than its international branches. Bernard Cammarata founded TK Maxx, originally named TJ Maxx, in the United States. The brand introduced its first UK store in Bristol in 1994, arriving on British shores 18 years after the doors opened to its Massachusetts location.

Today, TK Maxx is a beloved component of the British shopping experience, offering designer items at prices that undercut the competition. The retailer's inventory covers an extensive range, including clothing, bags, shoes, beauty products, toys, gourmet food and homeware furniture.

However, American customers are greeted with the familiar TJ Maxx branding different from what's seen in the UK. This distinction has recently become common knowledge among shoppers, reports the Mirror .

During Channel 5's documentary 'TK Maxx: How To Bag a Bargain', former buyer Yasmin Latiff shed light on the rebranding decision. She disclosed: ⁘They changed a letter so that consumers would not be confused with TJ Hughes, which was an off-price retailer founded in Liverpool.⁘

Further, consumer journalist Harry Wallop elaborated on the change, he said: ⁘They just randomly chose the next letter in the alphabet. I think it's as simple as that.⁘ The strategy paid off; TK Maxx quickly became a hit in the UK and even extended its reach online with the launch of an e-commerce site in 2009.

Contrasting with this, TJ Hughes began its journey in 1912, establishing itself as a household favourite in Merseyside and eventually becoming a nationwide success. At the height of its popularity, TJ Hughes operated 57 stores throughout the UK.

TK Maxx made the decision to stick with the name change for the European market. The alteration has long been a source of confusion for shoppers on social media. One person commented: ⁘ TJ Maxx is called TK Maxx in Germany, no I don't really know why.⁘ Another shopper chimed in: ⁘I get that brands and supermarkets have different names in America and Ireland - that's fine. But WHAT was so important about that ONE letter that TJ Maxx became TK Maxx?⁘

Softer' London Demand Despite Taylor Swift Concert Boost

Image Reference: Visit website

The budget hotel group however said that sites in the capital saw soaring trade close to Taylor Swift's London concerts and major sporting events.

However, it saw weaker trade linked to Wimbledon due to poor weather and fewer midweek leisure visitors in London.

"The UK regions have been really solid this year but London has been impacted by a lower event schedule year-on-year," she said.

"For the bigger events we have had, such as Taylor Swift and big sporting events, we have performed really well.

"The return of the football season has been really good as well, with that supporting a lot of regional hotels."

Nevertheless, the group said it was witnessed "encouraging trends" for staycation demand across the UK, with positive trading over July.

It came as the firm reported that revenues grew by 1.7% to £486.7 million for the first six months of 2024, compared with the same period a year earlier.

Ms Boydell added: "UK revenues in the third quarter to date are modestly below 2023 levels, but we were encouraged by improving trends during July, with UK revenues ahead of 2023 in that month.

Forward bookings are also positive, with booked revenue to the end of the year ahead of 2023 levels at this point, driven by strong event demand.

British Actress Julia Ormond Gunning For The Hollywood Big Beasts After Her...

Last week a New York Supreme Court judge ruled that her lawsuit against her former agents at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) could proceed, as could actions against Walt Disney Co and Miramax.

By continuing down this road, Ormond will be taking on CAA bosses Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane — two of the most powerful men in Hollywood.

Ormond's lawyer, Meredith Firetog, told me this week that her client was being 'incredibly brave' in shooting for the big dogs.

Ormond, originally from Surrey, filed a suit last October, citing CAA for negligence and breach of fiduciary duty, as well as Walt Disney Co. and Miramax — accusing them of negligent supervision and retention.

The disgraced movie mogul insisted on continuing discussions at Ormond's Manhattan apartment – provided for her by Miramax as part of a two-year deal – according to the complaint.
