Jacob Roberts has revealed he hit a 'low point' after quitting Hollyoaks , before joining the cast of Coronation Street .
The actor, 34, claims he had a 'total reality check' when he was forced to go back to a manual labour job, three weeks before landing his stint on the cobbles.
The soap star was forced to go back fitting aerials on rooftops while he struggled to find an acting job after leaving Hollyoaks a year prior.
He told The Mirror : 'It was a low moment. Eight months previously I was on TV and now I was in the freezing cold rain on top of a roof, fiddling with a TV aerial.
'It was winter and I was outside up a ladder in the cold, instead of inside in the warm doing lines - it was a total reality check and hard to take. I was dreading anyone recognising me and saying "Weren't you on Hollyoaks?".
Despite making the decision to quit the Channel 4 soap, Jacob's passion was always acting and hoped he would land a job on another soap.
