A sense of unease settled over the Manchester community as a synagogue in the north of the city was targeted in a disturbing incident. The Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, a suburb of Manchester, was the site of an attack that occurred on Yom Kippur, the most solemn day in the Jewish calendar.

Greater Manchester Police responded swiftly to the incident, which was reported by a vigilant member of the public who witnessed a car being driven towards a group of people, with one man allegedly being stabbed. The police arrived on the scene within minutes, containing the situation and preventing the suspect from entering the synagogue.

The motive behind the attack --- unknown, but its timing on a day of great significance to the Jewish community has sent shockwaves throughout. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his appall at the attack, announcing that additional police officers would be deployed at synagogues across the UK.
