Liverpool was found to be England's most walkable city in research by Insider Monkey. The investing website put together a list for travellers who prefer to explore by foot.

They used city walkability scores from sources like Tourlane and WalkScore, mapped out distances between the top tourist attractions and used air quality to narrow down the list.

Liverpool , which Insider Monkey described as "a city known for its musical history", is compact which makes it great for walking.

Bristol was the second-most walkable English city, with a maritime history and rich culture. Attractions include the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Bristol Museum.

Edinburgh was the highest-ranking UK city for walkability, coming in sixth overall for the world's most walkable cities.

It is known for its "clean parks and historic landmarks" with attractions like the National Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh Castle.
