Ella was then thrown out of the village by Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and told to never return. In recent weeks though, Ella came back to the Dales looking for items she had left at Tenants.
Reflecting on this, Paula Lane recently told us: 'It did flash up on my phone about her and Cain. And when I did film that very intense scene, even I went "Ooh, what's going to get picked up here?" I think it's just speculation, but I kind of joked previously you always like a bad boy, because they can take you to different places and things. So we'll see. There's nothing been said on that front.
'But to be honest, there are not that many people – I have gone through it in my head and thought maybe she'll go with Michelle Hardwick. Vanessa, maybe she'll end up going the other way.'
'Yeah, most people didn't see that one coming!', Paula said, reflecting on the reaction from fans when Ella's secret was revealed.
