The highly-anticipated second series of HBO's House of the Dragon aired on Monday night, as fans returned to the land of Westeros. After a dramatic series finale in 2022, people were keen to see what was in store for the Targaryens and Hightowers.

Kicking off the show in Winterfell, viewers heard a voice-over explaining how people in the North chose men to become part of The Night's Watch. As people drew stones out of a bag to decide who would join the watch, James' character unfortunately chose the odd one out.

Picking out the black stone from the bag, he realised he would have to leave. During the scene, fans watched the former soap star leave his village behind to start his position at the wall.

It's not yet known whether or not James will reappear in the popular series as, according to his IMDb page, his role is credited as Stark Night's Watch Candidate.

Spotting James' small cameo in House of the Dragon was his former Coronation Street co-star Jack James Ryan, who played Jacob Hay on the cobbles.

Sharing some snaps of him from the show on his Instagram stories, Jack wrote: "Everytime I turn on the telly I see bromeo and I'm really not mad about it [dragon and heart emoji]." (sic)

@alanlambodublin joked: "Just spotted James Craven aka Aaron Sandford from @itvcorrie in #HouseoftheDragon This is what happens when you cross the Barlows, you get exiled to Westeros." (sic)
