ITV Coronation Street's David Platt corrected after Scouse jibe as Sam Blakeman exits

The Boxing Day episode of the long-running soap continued to explore the character's difficult time in the Cobbles as he struggles to maintain control of Max Turner. Max has been groomed by a far right group and left home on the latest episode.

Sam is played by proud Merseysider Jude Riordan and the character spoke about his excitement for the trip. He said: "Not just about the Aurora Borealis but I'm also looking forward to seeing the Sami people in Tromsø.

ITV Coronation Street star supported by fans after sharing 'dark times'

The star , who played character Phill Whittaker in the ITV soap, said the festive period can "really rub salt in the wound" when you are going through hard times.

Max stormed off and joined Griff at his flat; and as the ITV soap returned on Boxing Day, David told wife Shona (Julia Goulding) that he was still determined to stop Max from falling further under Griff's spell .
