London City Airport was evacuated earlier this evening, with claims that flights had to circle overhead, unable to land.
Ben Clatworthy, Transport and Travel Correspondent at The Times, wrote: "London City Airport evacuated and inbound planes in holding pattern over the Thames Estuary.
"Hundreds of passengers being held outside the terminal." The airport has now welcomed passengers back in, citing an "incident" as the reason for the evacuation. It is not clear what the nature of the incident was and whether flights have been delayed as a result.
This website has made contact with London City Airport to get official clarification on the situation.
An image shared by Times reporter Ben Clatworthy appears to show aircraft circling over London City Airport.
There are numerous reports coming out that the airport has been evacuated, however this is yet to be independently confirmed.
