Did The Spaceship Land, Or Did They Beam Down?

Headlines:

As our highly trained NASA scientists do through their super-sturdy Mars rover, Perseverance, now beginning its fourth year of operation on the red planet, every rock and bit of scree that the rover hoovers up will be minutely analyzed and will be meticulously added to our knowledge of that fourth rock from the sun.

So it is with London Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2025-26: It's as if another set of scientists, in a very different corner of the universe, set themselves the task of sending a Fashion Rover to Earth pick up some trends from this planet to show their folks back home. By definition, since their edit of a randomly sampled set of Earth-trends would be authored with an off-planet sensibility, the selection would be somewhat willy-nilly, with very little earthbound gravitas, and almost no rhyme or reason. London Fashion Week is that, right now.

Speaking of staying British: Below, the iconic actor Richard E. Grant — looking every inch the next Bond "M" — walks magisterially in a massive, double-breasted brown twill trench in the Burberry show. Womenswear? Who cares? Those massive epaulets on that belted trench could support a ton of regimental brass. That purple thistle in his lapel says it all. Like his signature Scots flower, Grant is a tough one. Ready for battle. Hire him. For anything.
