8 Winter-Ready Jeans Outfits I've Saved To My Camera Roll

I back the mantra "it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it". Cliché, yes, but it's true – especially when applied to foundational basics like denim. Jeans can feel immediately fresh with the addition of a belt, charms, or a carabiner – this season's unlikely accessory hero. They can look surprisingly different with the waistband either off or on show, or paired with different shoes, like trainers, flats, heels or boots.

Small styling tweaks can sometimes be hard to visualise, unless you've seen someone else wearing a piece a certain way or a reference image on socials. I also find that I completely forget I own an item until I spot a person wearing something similar IRL, which can inspire me to dig said piece back out and style it as if it were brand new.

This photo is forever on my mood board. The leopard-print bag is the finishing touch to Kate's simple tank-top-and-jeans combination.

No one wears denim quite like Rihanna. The low-rise jeans and Timberlands she wore throughout her pregnancy are a pairing I'm planning to emulate for the colder months.

Belts can make more of a difference than you think. See: Winona Ryder in a graphic tee, leather blazer, jeans and a belt.

Whitney Houston might've worn this dramatic ensemble for the stage, but it would make quite the statement on London's streets this winter.

British Vogue 's features writer Daisy Jones recently picked up on the fact that carabiner clips have been immersed into fashion's mainstream . Make like Drew Barrymore this autumn and keep your keys on show.
