Gaga has assumed the role of tortured artist on several occasions. This is, after all, the same woman who once claimed to have spent three days encased in the Hussein Chalayan orb that transported her to the 2011 Grammys. And though Gaga requested to be referred to as "Lee" while performing as the psychopathic psychologist Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux –which is slated for a 3 October release–she this time around seems to have taken a more measured approach to method acting.

There has at least been no method dressing to report on. Gaga was last night photographed at the Venice Film Festival in a custom La Roxx dress with Celine sunglasses, Wolford tights and sensible pumps. And while there was a pantomime charm to that polka-dotted mini, it didn't quite fulfill the same, "I've just escaped from the circus having executed the contortionists" attitude so heavily associated with the pigtailed Harley Quinn. Here's hoping Lady Gaga isn't saving that particular look for the film's September 4th premiere.
