North East names feature among list of country's top small and medium sized businesses

Three North East companies have been named among the UK's top 100 small and medium-sized businesses.

Newcastle-based tech firm SoPost, which runs product sampling campaigns for major brands such as L'Oreal, Estee Lauder and Coty, was placed at number five overall - a ranking which will see it join the four other top names at an awards evening in London next month.

Nissan says Europe is 'core' business region again | Automotive News Europe

Nissan has successfully tackled the underlying cause of its unprofitability in Europe after launching new models and cutting costs, Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta said.

Nissan said on Thursday that its operating profit in Europe was 4 billion yen ($31 million) in the quarter that ended Dec. 31. That is double the amount in the same period in 2021.

UK wants to tackle small boats while being compliant with ECHR - PM's spokesperson

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain wants to tackle the issue of migrants arriving in small boats while remaining compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's spokesperson said on Monday.

The Sunday Times cited officials saying Sunak might consider leaving the ECHR if the British law were challenged by its human rights court.
