Only the most loyal of EastEnders fans today will remember the character of Matthew Jackson, a young, handsome music store manager who appeared in a total of 64 episodes between May 1988 and July 1989.

His credits include The Bill, in which he played Superintendent Tom Chandler for two years between 2000 and 2002, and Silent Witness, in which he was cast as Terry Fallon between 2007 and 2015.

EastEnders fans were recently treated to a big shock as terminally ill Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) was reunited with her long estranged biological mother in new character Emma Harding, played by Patsy Kensit.

Emma's introduction hasn't gone down particularly well with a lot of fans, or with Lola initially, who is understandably unsure of her mother's intentions after she tried to anonymously give her money before her identity was exposed.

EastEnders fans were left heartbroken last night by a moving scene with Suki Panesar. The businesswoman, played by Balvinder Sopal, is continuing to hide her true sexuality.

For months now she has developed strong feelings for Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) who also feels the same way. But just as Suki was plucking up the courage to come out, her manipulative husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry) was released from prison.

BBC EastEnders viewers 'work out' newest Queen Vic landlady after huge hint - MyLondon

During Friday's (February 10) trip to Walford, Lola Pearce and her mum Emma Harding sat down in the cafe to look over some baby photos.

As the mum and daughter catch up on lost time, Emma tells Lola: "You see, sometimes I'd take you to work at the pub with me. Dozens of babysitters on tap there, they all adored you", before confirming she lost contact with the punters.
