Several parents with children struck down by the infection told the Standard they had struggled to find Penicillin V and amoxicillin amid an unprecedented spike in demand in the past fortnight.
Janet Morrison, chief executive of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, said pharmacists were continuing to experience "serious issues" securing antibiotics from wholesalers, with many facing exorbitant costs.

Microsoft Corp. has disclosed that it has signed a cloud computing agreement with London Stock Exchange Group plc for at least £2.3 billion, or about USD 2.8 billion.
As part of the deal, Microsoft Corp. will buy a 4% stake in LSEG. The cloud and AI group’s executive vice president, Scott Guthrie, will become a non-executive director on the LSEG board.
