How are UK shopping habits changing in a post-Covid world?

Global business messaging provider Esendex surveyed customers in the UK, the US, Australia, France, Germany, Italy and Spain to discover what the retail landscape looks like in 2022.

British shoppers are planning to buy more canned goods to keep costs down this winter, a new survey has revealed.

To save money on groceries, respondents said they were most likely to buy more dry pasta (46%), rice (41%), canned baked beans (40%) and canned tomatoes (35%).

Sustainability important to 91% of British beauty consumers

The data, from sustainability marketing and software company Provenance, found that 91% of Brits found sustainability and ethics-related considerations important when they are buying beauty and wellness products.

However, 83% of British beauty shoppers think the industry should be more transparent about the impact of products and only 16% think beauty brands' sustainability claims are "very trustworthy".

European shares drop as inflation, slowdown fears grip markets | Reuters

Oct 21 (Reuters) - Europe's STOXX 600 share index fell on Friday as concerns grew that major global central banks would retain their aggressive stance on inflation, with dismal earnings updates from a slew of companies including Adidas adding to worries about a recession.

"The short term boost that we had this week is basically just that we've seen a heavy sell off over the last month or so. I don't believe we are at the point yet where people are feeling optimistic or see a turn around on the horizon," said Craig Erlam, senior market analyst, UK & EMEA, OANDA.

Amazon launches UK insurance comparison service; Allianz signs up - Insurtech - Insurance News - ...

Retail giant Amazon is offering British shoppers an insurance comparison service and has signed on Allianz’s LV= General Insurance, as well as Ageas UK and Co-op, with more to be added in the next few months.

“This initial launch is just the beginning,” Amazon’s European Payment Products GM Jonathan Feifs said. “We’ll continue to innovate and make refinements.”

Falling UK beef demand leading to slump in imports | News | The Grocer

According to AHDB, the UK imported 16% less beef in August compared to the same month last year, with volumes from Ireland, the biggest source nation, down 27%.

Nick Allen, CEO of the British Meat Processors Association, said the falling imports were not a surprise due to a "significant drop in demand" for beef in the UK.
