Covid regulations continue to cool UK travel enthusiasm | ITIJ

Almost half of UK holidaymakers are still reluctant to travel abroad due to the changeable coronavirus pandemic situation, according to a survey by GoCompare Insurance.

The survey, which was carried out among 3,000 UK consumers in early December – before the emergence of the Omicron variant – found that 46 per cent of respondents said they were unwilling to leave the UK.

Nicola Sturgeon cuts self-isolation period in Scotland to seven days

N icola Sturgeon has abandoned her tougher coronavirus self-isolation rules, cutting the period from 10 to seven days in line with the rest of the UK.

The Scottish First Minister had faced pressure from opposition parties to make the change, which applies as long as people test negative on days six and seven of isolation. The changes will come into effect at midnight on Wednesday.

Bulgaria tightens travel restrictions as COVID infections surge | Euronews

Bulgaria will require almost all travellers from the European Union to have a negative PCR coronavirus test prior to entry along with a valid COVID certificate, starting on Friday, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Balkan country recorded its first 12 Omicron cases since the New Year. On Wednesday it reported a sharp rise in new infections to over 6,200 from about 1,900 a day.
