Austria to drop extra travel requirements for Brits | The Independent

Austria will scrap its "virus variant list" - which currently subjects Britons to extra travel restrictions - from Monday 24 January, the tourist board has announced .

The UK has been on the list since 25 December, along with countries including Denmark and the Netherlands.

In December, Italy tightened its restrictions for all travellers in response to the rising threat of the Omicron variant.

Arrivals from other European Union countries now have to take a COVID test before arriving into the country. You can show a negative PCR result taken within 48 hours or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of arrival.

Travel tests have virtually no impact on spread of Covid variants, study shows | The Independent

Covid -19 tests taken by travellers have little to no impact on the spread of new coronavirus variants, recent analysis shows.

To contain the spread of a new variant like Omicron, new restrictions would have be imposed within one day of the strain first being imported to a country, according to research from Edge Health and Oxera, two specialist research consultancies that work with the NHS.

Ditch Covid tests for vaccinated travellers entering UK, Theresa May urges Boris Johnson

Travel testing for vaccinated arrivals must be ditched with the rest of Plan B rules , Theresa May, the former prime minister, has warned.

Dropping the tests - which add £120 to the cost of a family of four's holiday - is being backed by Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, and it is thought Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary, is on board.

Thailand travel rules to ease with quarantine-free holidays back from next month - Mirror Online

Fully vaccinated travellers - including UK arrivals - will be able to apply through the 'Test and Go' scheme 60 days before their trip on the Thailand Pass website, which allows them to visit without having to undergo a lengthy quarantine.

At the time, it kept the Phuket Sandbox open, which allows tourists to visit Phuket without quarantine, although under the scheme you must remain in the destination and can't travel to other parts of Thailand.

For just over a month, travel between France and the UK was strictly limited, with most types of travel banned altogether and those who could make the journey subject to strict rules including a quarantine on arrival in France.

Half-term holiday drives UK aviation recovery | News | Breaking Travel News

New data from Cirium has revealed international flights from the UK are up by 591 per cent this February half-term when compared to last year as the recovery from Covid-19 continues.

However, the overall figure remains 38 per cent down on February half-term 2020 – prior to most countries imposing harsh travel restrictions.
