Shoppers were left open-mouthed over the £15 price tag and demanded to know one key detail about the sweet treat.

The controversy was sparked on Very British Problems Facebook page when a photo of the pastry-inspired creation was shared.

Holding up the box for followers to see, the admin wrote: ⁘You know you're in Waitrose when you see an Easter egg shaped like a croissant.⁘

While many were left scratching their head over what blonde chocolate is (caramelized white chocolate), there was one question on the tip of everyone's tongues.

It's bad news though, as according to Waitrose's website the choccy croissant is indeed hollow - weighing in at 275g.

While some shoppers struggled to find the link between the French breakfast staple and Easter, others were totally sold.

A spokesperson for Waitrose said: ⁘With treats starting for less than £1, we've something for every budget and this No.1 Chocolate Croissant is our pièce de résistance.

⁘With customers already calling it 'simply the best chocolate ever tasted', we're confident it's well worth the dough.⁘

Waitrose's chocolate croissant is likely to become public enemy number one with thousands of Brits threatening to boycott Easter eggs as prices are set to soar this spring.

With a brand new major London tourist attraction opening soon in a network of World War Two tunnels, and with the second American revolution banging on in the background, I've been thinking about cultural undergrounds. Here invisible insurrectionists have long embraced not just London but Ireland, Russia, cross-channel Europe, the Americas, Africa. Long before I visited London from Scotland, American legend Joe Boyd with Cambridge physicist Hoppy Hopkins had founded the underground psychedelic UFO Club where Pink Floyd (with Syd Barrett) played some of their early gigs. Anarchists, I am told, favoured the Arts Lab in Notting Hill, founded by another American—also via Edinburgh—Jim Haynes. The Mountain Grill famously hosted speed parties with Hawkwind and Lemmy. Future archbishops of Canterbury (Rowan Williams, certainly) listened to the Incredible String Band. Underground press publications International Times (IT) and Oz Magazine were already blowing what remained of mainstream narratives out of the water, its visuals alone by graphic artists Martin Sharp and Nigel Weymouth-English beyond illuminating. Years later, Felix Dennis, former editor of Oz, could still be seen, beard and all, in the half-light of Gerry's. Perhaps these people are ghosts now who meet in Soho every Thursday night or so. Then came Punk—SEX (Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood), The Roxy Club (The Clash, The Damned), Centro Iberico and nearby Meanwhile Gardens (Anarcho-Punk).

Hollyoaks actor Ryan Mulvey has reportedly been signed up by rival soap Coronation Street just a few weeks after quitting the long-running series.

According to The Sun , Ryan will make his first appearance on the cobbles of Weatherfield in a few weeks as part of a new storyline. He joined the Hollyoaks cast in January 2024, just before show execs announced the show would be cut from five days a week to three, and a mass cull of characters began .

Business and economic leaders from across the London region met with Mayor Josh Morgan Friday ahead of his trip to Washington D.C. next week to push back against tariff threats alongside provincial officials. Morgan called the meeting informative and said it left him well-informed for the trip.

Those in attendance were invited by Morgan from various organizations including local schools, business groups, healthcare networks and more to discuss how best to prepare the London region's economy for the ramifications of a potential trade war with the United States.

⁘This is the type of conversation that's happening in cities across the country, talking with our local manufacturers, local job creators, local businesses,⁘ Morgan said. ⁘We need to hear what they think. We need to feed that information back up through our federal and provincial partners because of the really important work ahead.⁘

Through his role as chair of the Big City Mayors' Caucus, Morgan has been at the forefront of a movement to ensure Canadian municipalities have a seat at the table in responding to the looming threats. 

A primary purpose of Friday's meeting was to equip himself with firsthand knowledge ahead of next week's trip, he said.

Located in Acton in West London , the Museum Depot houses over 320,000 items relating to the English capital's transport history.

From examples of horse-drawn carriages and old-school buses, Museum Depot harks back to the golden age of travel.

And it's not just vehicles and decommissioned tube carriages, the Museum Depot has just about every piece of Transport for London (TFL) paraphernalia imaginable - think transport posters and underground signs.

It's also home to the London Transport Miniature Railway , a working miniature railway based on real London Underground locomotives, carriages, signals and signs.

All fun aside, its main purpose is to act as a working museum store, housing important pieces of transport history in environmentally controlled conditions.

A team of curators and volunteers work to catalogue and conserve objects like ceramic tiles, engineering drawings and ticket machines.

Described as ⁘festival-style events⁘ on its website, the set open days take place throughout the year and welcome thousands of transport enthusiasts.
