Emmerdale Legend Returning After Years Away For Bombshell New Plot | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV...

An Emmerdale legend is returning to the ITV soap after years away – much to the delight of fans. Samantha Giles left the soap two years ago, with her character Bernice Blackstock heading off in 2023 after giving her shares in the B⁘B to her sister Nicola and fleeing to Portugal to see Diane.

She is reportedly only returning for a brief stint – but, as with the surprise return of Robert Sugden star Ryan Hawley proved, that can always change.

Samantha has had four separate stints on Emmerdale , first appearing from 1998 until 2002. She briefly returned in 2004 before departing until 2012, remaining until 2019 before another stint from 2021 until 2023.

Eventually Samantha left to pursue other opportunities, admitting at the time: "I don't feel I'd want to go back to Emmerdale at the moment.

I'm enjoying doing other things, and the show changes.

"I haven't had a chance to see what's going on with the show, so I don't know whether Bernice would fit into it at the moment.

Rihanna-Approved London Designer Supriya Lele On Her Collaboration With Mango

Worn by Rihanna, seen on the cover – and in the pages – of British Vogue ( Yasmin Finney wore an azure minidress for the December 2022 issue ), Supriya Lele's trajectory has reached far beyond her London studio.

And after a hiatus from the London Fashion Week schedule, the British-Indian designer has now hit another milestone: a collaboration with Mango, launching 5 June.

"I love making collections – that's why I love what I do," she explains of returning to the process of building an idea into a full look. And the Mango collab followed the same tried-and-tested method she uses each season: starting with research and conjuring a direction, then fittings with a model and her stylist, Jane How. "We have the same brain," she says of How, who first loaned looks when Supriya was showing with the capital's renowned incubator, Fashion East.

From London, they went to the Mango HQ in Barcelona, where they worked closely with the design team and created a commercial collection, while retaining Supriya's unique "identity and aesthetic." "Everything that I've done has always been about the visual language and the way that it's presented – and that's so important to me," she explains of the "sensitivity" that the team had towards the finer details, such as swing tags and the size of the font inside the shoes.

Despite the refined attention to detail, the overall journey was straightforward and decisions were made fast – something that Supriya credits to her adaptability as a brand founder. "You're a manager, you're HR… I'm like, 'can I do my accounts on the bus?'" she laughs. "Then there's a fancy dinner and I'm wondering… 'what am I going to wear?'".

The collection only goes up to a size 12, which will exclude a portion of customers.

"Mango has worked on inclusive sizing for a very long time, and includes sizes in a selection of clothing from its main collections that ranges from XXS to 4XL. For special limited edition collections such as Supriya Lele X Mango, the collection is very limited both in units and also in sale time, so Mango has also limited the sizing to its most commercial sizes to ensure the best outcome," the brand said in a statement about the restrictive size range.

Moving forward, it would be disappointing for the retailer to not implement broader sizing across the board. This is especially prevalent given that the conversation around size inclusivity in fashion has taken a backward turn in recent seasons .

Long-running BBC Couple At An End As Statement Is Issued | Soaps

It's over! EastEnders' Lauren Branning ( Jacqueline Jossa ) has called time on her relationship with Peter Beale ( Thomas Law ) in tonight's episode.

Lauren took responsibility, given her  painkiller addiction while she was pregnant , but was hoping that her fiancé would take a more sympathetic approach moving forward in their relationship.

This wasn't the case, and after a vicious argument, she stormed out of the house and attempted to hit the bottle.

Luckily, she didn't relapse. However, a heart to heart with Zack Hudson  ( James Farrar ) led to the two enjoying a kiss , and she stayed the night. The next morning she was relieved that they hadn't slept together, knowing that she'd have to head home and face Peter.

When they eventually came face to face, he was furious, and demanded to know where she'd disappeared to.

Quickly covering, she said she'd spent the night with a friend.

Not exactly a lie, but by not divulging the friend's identity only intensified Peter's suspicions.

Peter opened up to grandmother Kathy ( Gillian Taylforth ) about his worries, and although he had said about seeking full custody of his sons, he would put that to one side if Lauren agreed to move forward.

In our modern, technology-saturated lives, it's easy to overlook the seemingly simple devices that orchestrate our entertainment and daily routines. The remote control, often taken for granted, holds a significant position in how we interact with the digital world around us. From televisions to smart home appliances, these ubiquitous tools empower us with convenient control and access to a vast array of functions, ultimately shaping our digital habits and experiences.

The evolution of the remote control reflects the advancement of technology itself. Early iterations were wired, limiting mobility and often prone to malfunctions. The introduction of wireless technology, first with radio waves and later with infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) signals, revolutionized the user experience. Wireless remotes offered freedom of movement, increased reliability, and the ability to control devices from greater distances. Today, we are witnessing a shift towards more sophisticated remotes that incorporate voice control, gesture recognition, and even touchscreens, blurring the lines between traditional remotes and mobile devices.

Beyond the technology itself, the remote control has had a profound impact on user behavior. It has fostered a culture of convenience, allowing us to effortlessly navigate vast libraries of content, adjust settings, and manage our homes from the comfort of our couches. The ease of use offered by remotes has made technology accessible to a wider range of users, including those less familiar with complex interfaces. This accessibility, however, has also contributed to a more sedentary lifestyle, raising concerns about the potential health implications of prolonged periods of passive entertainment consumption.

Moreover, the rise of smart home technology has expanded the role of the remote control beyond entertainment. Smart remotes can now control lighting, temperature, security systems, and a wide range of other household appliances. This integration of home automation features has the potential to create more efficient and personalized living environments. However, it also raises concerns about data privacy and security, as these devices collect and transmit information about our daily habits and routines.

As technology continues to evolve, the future of the remote control remains uncertain. While voice control and mobile devices offer alternative means of interaction, the tactile feedback and dedicated buttons of traditional remotes still appeal to many users. The challenge for manufacturers lies in creating remotes that seamlessly blend the best of both worlds – combining intuitive interfaces with powerful features while prioritizing user privacy and security. Whether it's a simple clicker or a sophisticated smart home hub, the remote control is here to stay as a constant companion.

HOLLYOAKS boss Hannah Cheers has revealed all about the soap's upcoming 30th anniversary, confirming a stunt and huge storyline details.

The Channel 4 soap has undergone a huge revival in the last year with boss Hannah at the helm with ratings surging by more than a third.

The executive producer was forced to make tough decisions to cut the show from five episodes per week to just three - with the episode length slashed further.

Hollyoaks was second only to EastEnders at this weekend's British Soap Awards - taking home three gongs.

And now the show is heading full speed ahead towards its 30th anniversary in October - and it will be a month-long celebration.

Hannah said: "In that week, we want to make it a celebration across the whole month really because we can't physically fit all of the characters into that.

"So that's why it's kind of becomes a bit more of a challenge in terms of which stories that you really want to hear about and focus on.

"But obviously there just needs to be enough of a sense of nostalgia in terms of Hollyoaks' origin story and everything that we love and know about the show.

"But then also the kind of characters that are going to be able to shake things up and create jeopardy and danger and spit things out in a different way at the end of that.

TLDR Check here.

The digital landscape is constantly evolving, with technology continually striving to become more intuitive and user-friendly. One of the most significant advancements in recent years has been the widespread adoption of voice control, transforming the way we interact with our devices and access information. From smart speakers and smartphones to televisions and even automobiles, voice assistants are becoming increasingly integrated into our daily routines.

What Makes Voice Control So Appealing?

The appeal of voice control lies in its inherent convenience and natural interface. Instead of relying on buttons, touchscreens, or complex menus, users can simply speak their commands and queries. This hands-free approach offers numerous advantages:

Increased Efficiency Voice commands can often accomplish tasks much faster than manual input, especially when it comes to searching for information or navigating complex interfaces.
Enhanced Accessibility For individuals with disabilities or those who have limited dexterity, voice control provides a valuable alternative to traditional input methods.
Multitasking Made Easy Voice control allows users to perform tasks while keeping their hands free, making it ideal for activities like cooking, driving, or working.
A More Natural Interaction Speaking is a fundamental human skill, making voice control a more intuitive and engaging way to interact with technology.

Applications Across Various Industries

Voice control has found applications in a wide range of industries, revolutionizing the way we live, work, and play.

Home Automation Smart speakers and voice assistants enable users to control lighting, thermostats, security systems, and other smart home devices with simple voice commands.
Entertainment Voice control allows users to easily search for and play music, movies, and TV shows on their streaming devices and smart televisions.
Navigation and Travel Voice-activated navigation systems in cars provide drivers with hands-free directions, while voice assistants can help travelers book flights, find hotels, and explore new destinations.
Healthcare Voice technology is being used to assist doctors and nurses in accessing patient information, documenting medical records, and ordering prescriptions.
Customer Service Voice-based chatbots and virtual assistants are increasingly being used to handle customer inquiries, provide support, and resolve issues.

Challenges and Considerations

While voice control offers numerous benefits, it also presents certain challenges and considerations.

Privacy Concerns The constant listening required for voice activation raises concerns about data privacy and security.
Accuracy and Reliability Voice recognition technology is not always perfect, and accents, background noise, and unclear speech can sometimes lead to errors.
Security Risks Voice commands can potentially be intercepted or spoofed, posing a security risk to sensitive information and systems.
Ethical Implications As voice technology becomes more sophisticated, it raises ethical questions about the potential for bias, manipulation, and misuse.

Despite these challenges, the future of voice control is bright. As technology continues to improve and privacy concerns are addressed, we can expect to see voice assistants becoming even more integrated into our lives, transforming the way we interact with the world around us.
