1 Billion Profit From Higher-Spending Shoppers

Next Plc expects profit to expand to nearly £1 billion ($1.3 billion) this year as rising wages free up British shoppers to spend more on fashion.

The British fashion and homewares retailer, whose performance is a closely watched indicator of consumer demand, stuck with guidance it gave in January that it will generate £960 million of profit in 2024/25.

"It has been a long time since we started a year in a more positive frame of mind," chief executive officer Simon Wolfson said in a statement Thursday, adding that the consumer environment is more benign.

Actresses Sit Naked As Part Of Art Exhibition

A GROUP of actresses yesterday sat naked in glass cabinets at the Hayward Gallery in London as part of controversial British film director Peter Greenaway's contribution to the Spellbound exhibition.

Chicago-born actress Tina Pelini said she had already had one over-amorous punter removed from the exhibition after he admitted his perverted intentions.

The 26-year-old said: ``I have done a lot of nude modelling for artists and done a few commercials, but I didn't really think I'd get this job.

``It is only 11am in the morning but I've already had one bloke come up to me and say `the only reason I am here is to leer at you'. He then tried to touch me, which is possible because the glass case is only three-sided.

Vinny becomes Eric's accomplice as he secretly swipes Amit's keys and encourages Eric to go snooping around Holdgate for clues.

Over at The Hide, Vinny plays his role in the plan by trying to stall Amit for as long as possible. Amit becomes suspicious, especially when he realises that his keys are missing, so he walks out.

Vinny tries to warn Eric that Amit is on his way, but Eric is too distracted by his ongoing search through Amit's files. Will he be caught in the act?

As guests made their way across the powder-pink carpet of Chemena Kamali's debut show for Chloé, it was impossible to miss a certain statement shoe sported by countless attendees. Towering wooden platform sandals, with crossed straps and bronzed buckles, adorned the star-lined front-row, which featured Georgia May Jagger, Pat Cleveland, Liya Kebede and Sienna Miller, to name but a few.

Kamali's show paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld's Chloé in the late '70s in a refreshingly modern way, juxtaposing powdery shades with dark leathers and playfully experimenting with asymmetrical ruffle skirts and accessories. But the star of the show was, of course, the same wooden sandals worn by famous attendees, which were styled with upcycled denim and particularly Chloé-esque lace blouses. "It was like my dream wardrobe walking past me. It felt so nostalgic – like how the brand felt in the early '00s," Miller told Vogue of the showcase .

BBC Studios Drama Productions Launches Writers’ Studio

Kate Oates, head of Drama Productions at BBC Studios announced today at the French festival Series Mania, that a new writers scheme for EastEnders has been launched on Tuesday 19th March. BBC Studios Drama Productions is passionate about developing and nurturing a creative and diverse workforce and holds great pride in providing some of the most supportive, hands-on editorial and production training opportunities across the whole of the UK.

Submissions open on Tuesday 19th March and then the window to apply will close on Monday 22nd April. The eight successful applicants will be selected by the end of May.
